On March 26, a tragic incident occurred when a wall collapsed at a building located at 612 Main St. The building housed Atomic Vapor, Creative Nails & Hair, and a second-floor apartment. This unfortunate event has left the business owners and tenants affected by the collapse in need of assistance.
In response to this incident, two GoFundMe accounts have been set up to help those affected by the collapse. One account was created by Shay Ardrey, the aunt of Aylie Horn, for Aylie and her fiancé Gavin Mendoza, who lived in the apartment. The couple did not have rental insurance and are now without a home. Any support from the community would be greatly appreciated and can be found at .
Another GoFundMe account was set up by Atomic Vapor, owned by the Mendoza family, to help the business recover some of its losses. This account can be found at . Unfortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collapse.
City Administrator Ryan Stevens mentioned that the city is awaiting testing to be done for the State by the building owner and contractor. The back portion of the building will need to be demolished, but the front section, which is the original building, may be salvageable.
