Tragic Accident Leaves Cyclists Injured During Tour de France Race

Jonas Vingegaard Suffers Broken Collarbone and Ribs in Cycling Accident

A serious accident occurred on Thursday during the Tour de France race, resulting in injuries to several riders including Jonas Vingegaard. The Danish cyclist suffered a broken collarbone and several ribs after crashing on the Olaeta climb, about 35 kilometres from the finish line.

Vingegaard’s team, Visma | Lease a Bike, stated that the crash was caused by several riders sliding straight on at a right-hand bend in the front of the peloton. The impact of the crash was severe, and Vingegaard was rushed to hospital for treatment. Primož Roglič of Slovenia and Remco Evenepoel of Belgium were also involved in the crash.

Roglič managed to give a thumbs-up to a broadcast camera as he rode away in a car after being forced to withdraw from the tour due to his injuries. Evenepoel headed to a hospital for further examinations following his own withdrawal from the tour. Despite this incident, Vingegaard’s team is hopeful that he will be able to recover and return to racing soon.
