Tottenham Extends Timo Werner’s Loan Deal until Next Season, Option to Buy for Lower Price

Spurs and RB Leipzig agree to extend Werner loan deal

Tottenham have agreed to extend Timo Werner’s loan deal from RB Leipzig until the end of the next season. The Germany forward joined Spurs on a temporary basis in January and made 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice. The original agreement included an option for Tottenham to make the deal permanent for £15m this summer, but the new deal will now have an option to buy Werner for £8.5m.

Werner proved to be a valuable addition to the Tottenham squad last season, providing additional attacking options for manager Ange Postecoglou. Despite missing the final five Premier League matches due to a hamstring injury, Tottenham finished fifth in the league and will participate in the Europa League next season. Werner is a proven goal-scorer at the international level, with 24 goals in 57 appearances for Germany. Most recently, he played for his country in a friendly against Belgium in March 2023. During his time at Chelsea, Werner scored 23 goals in 89 appearances and won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup before rejoining Leipzig in 2022.
