Tottenham Combats Racism with Education and Support for Heung-min Son

🚨 Tottenham releases statement regarding remarks made by Rodrigo Bentancur

Tottenham has issued a statement addressing the comments made by Rodrigo Bentancur regarding Heung-min Son in an interview on Uruguayan TV. In the interview, Bentancur had suggested that all people from South Korea looked the same, sparking controversy. However, the midfielder later apologized for his remarks and spoke with Son, who believed there was no ill intent.

In response to the situation, Tottenham is providing assistance to ensure a positive outcome. This includes further education for all players in line with the club’s diversity, equality, and inclusion objectives. The club fully supports Son’s decision to move on from the incident and focus on the upcoming season.

Tottenham emphasized their pride in their diverse, global fanbase and playing squads, stating that discrimination of any kind has no place at their club, in the game, or in wider society. The club’s next pre-season friendly is against Hearts on 17 July as they continue to prepare for the new season under manager Ange Postecoglou.
