Top local businesses honored in Santa Maria’s Business of the Quarter program

During the City Council meeting in Santa Maria, two local businesses were honored for their outstanding contributions to the community. Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum were recognized as the top businesses of the quarter for the months of April through June 2024.

Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service, located at 320 Oak St. in Santa Maria, has been providing top-notch plumbing services to residents and commercial customers for over 30 years. Founded by Daniel Keuma in 1991, what began as a one-truck operation has now expanded to seven trucks and eight employees. The company actively participates in community events and charitable causes, demonstrating its commitment to giving back to the city.

Trojan Petroleum, situated at 1665 West Betteravia Rd. in Santa Maria, is a full-service petroleum distributor that has been delivering fuel to farm locations and job sites across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties for over 40 years. Established by Bud and Ebba Richards, the company is also a Pacific Pride cardlock site with a fleet of 15 delivery trucks and an active member of various local civic groups.

The City of Santa Maria collaborated with the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce to launch the Business of the Quarter program, which highlights different businesses in the city four times a year. Two local small businesses are selected for recognition based on specific criteria such as having fewer than 20 employees, operating for at least five years, being physically located within city limits, and maintaining good standing as a member of the local chamber of commerce. This recognition not only provides valuable exposure to these businesses but also serves as a reminder of the diverse and longstanding establishments that contribute to the vibrant fabric of Santa Maria. The full ceremony honoring Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum can be viewed via the City’s livestream of their Tuesday City Council meeting.
