Science SARU, a popular anime production studio founded in 2013 by anime director Masaaki Yuasa and current president Eun Young Choi, has been acquired by TOHO. The capital alliance deal was announced on the Science SARU website, stating that TOHO will acquire all of the animation studio’s shares on June 19 and make it a subsidiary.
Science SARU is known for producing popular shows like The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Lu Over the Wall, Devilman Crybaby, Ride Your Wave, The Heike Story, and Inu-Oh. They have upcoming projects such as the new Naoko Yamada film The Colors Within and a TV anime adaptation of the Dandadan manga. With this acquisition by TOHO, we can expect even more exciting collaborations and projects from Science SARU in the future.
TOHO has been involved with several recent anime projects such as Kaiju No.8, My Hero Academia Season 7, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, and Spy x Family: Code White.
