The Castleford Tigers have secured the futures of two key players, Alex Mellor and Cain Robb, by signing them to new two-year deals. Mellor, a versatile 29-year-old who can play as a second row or centre, has been with the Tigers since joining from Leeds Rhinos nearly two years ago. He has also played for Bradford Bulls and Huddersfield Giants in the Super League.
Robb, a young 21-year-old hooker, made his debut for Castleford in 2021 and has since made 32 appearances for the club. He spent some time on loan with Swinton Lions in the Championship last season but has now returned to feature in the last seven games for the Tigers. Castleford’s director of rugby operations, Danny Wilson, praised Robb for bringing energy to the team and described him as a special player who is crucial for the club’s success in competing for trophies.
In addition to Mellor and Robb, Jason Qareqare, George Hill, and Sam Hall have also agreed to new deals at Castleford Tigers as the club looks to retain its best players and continue to build towards future success. Robb first played for the Tigers as an 18-year-old in 2001 and has since become a key player for the team. The signings of Mellor and Robb signal the club’s commitment to building a strong squad for the upcoming seasons at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
