Tigers Analyst Faces Allegations of Sexual Abuse by Former Child Mentor

Florida sheriff’s office investigates sex abuse allegations involving Tigers broadcaster Craig Monroe, pulling him off air

In a shocking turn of events, Detroit Tigers television analyst Craig Monroe is facing an investigation by the Charlotte County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office after allegations were made against him by a woman on social media. The woman claims that Monroe sexually abused her when she was just 12 years old and he was a minor league player.

The abuse reportedly began when Monroe stayed with her family during his time in the minor leagues, a common practice for players at lower levels. Despite initially deleting her post, she later reposted the accusations.

Monroe, who worked on a freelance contract with the Tigers, has not appeared on a broadcast since June 9. Bally Sports Detroit removed him from a game on June 11 after learning of the allegations. Both the Tigers and Bally Sports Detroit released a joint statement expressing their awareness of the situation and noting that Monroe will not be on the broadcast schedule for the foreseeable future.

In response to these allegations, Monroe denied them through his attorney and stated that he takes such accusations seriously and would never engage in or support such behavior. He also mentioned that he and his family are shocked by the accusations and extend forgiveness and grace to his accuser.
