Thunderstorm Forces Abrupt Cancellation of Netherlands-France Match in Munich Fan Zone

Public Viewing in the Olympic Park in Munich Cancelled

In Munich, the public viewing event for the Netherlands-France match was abruptly canceled in the evening due to a heavy thunderstorm with lightning. The fan zone at the Olympic Park had to be shut down before the game began, leaving spectators disappointed and forced to vacate the area for their safety.

Earlier in the day, many of the approximately 2,000 spectators had to endure rain during the Austria-Poland match. However, with successive thunderstorms approaching, officials decided to halt the event prioritize safety above all else. The authorities, including the police and fire department, worked together to ensure that everyone was safe and that no one was injured or harmed by the storm.

Despite some spectators seeking shelter, the event could not continue as the weather conditions posed a risk. Towards the end of the game, only a fraction of the total capacity of 25,000 attendees remained at the site. However, everyone was grateful for their safety and appreciated that officials prioritized their well-being over anything else.
