On April 8-10, the ArkLaTex region was hit by a severe storm that caused flooding and damage in various areas. Among the affected towns was Minden, which experienced two separate incidents involving lightning strikes within a span of 30 minutes.
The first incident occurred at a business on Martin Luther King Drive, where it is believed that lightning may have been the cause of the fire. However, the exact origin of the fire is still under investigation by the Minden Fire Department (MFD), with Chief Bryan stating that they are currently investigating the causes of the fires.
In the second incident, a man was injured when lightning struck a tree nearby. It is believed that the lightning traveled through the ground, causing the man to sustain injuries. Fortunately, the victim is reported to be okay despite not remembering the exact details of the incident. The Minden Police Department (MPD) confirmed that they are investigating this incident further.
