Thrills and Struggles at Iowa Speedway: A Mixed Bag for NASCAR Racers

NASCAR weekend at Iowa Speedway: Who came out on top and who fell behind?

This weekend at Iowa Speedway saw a mix of winners and losers in the world of racing. Ryan Blaney bounced back after a disappointing finish two weeks ago to claim his first win of the season, with 85 friends and family members there to support him and celebrate in Victory Lane.

Chase Elliott’s third-place finish at Iowa Speedway put him in the points lead and marked his seventh top-five finish of the season. Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, and Ryan Blaney all notched wins as well, showcasing the strength of Team Penske.

On the other hand, AJ Allmendinger had a tough weekend, experiencing two crashes due to right front tire issues, finishing 37th in the Xfinity race and 36th in the Cup race. Kyle Busch also faced mechanical problems that led to a 35th-place finish, putting him further back from the playoff cutline.

NASCAR’s decision to run a Cup race at Iowa Speedway was deemed successful, with many racers impressed by the track’s design and speed. The likelihood of the series returning next year is high based on this success. Josh Berry stood out by leading 32 laps and scoring a season-high 15 stage points, finishing seventh. This was his third top-10 finish in the last five points races. Christopher Bell overcame a crash during practice to finish fourth in a backup car, adding to his streak of top-10 finishes.
