Thrilling Victory for Kentucky in College World Series Upsets NC State, Advancing to Winner’s Bracket

The second day of the College World Series took place on Saturday, with the teams from Bracket 2 making their first appearance on the field. On Friday, Tennessee and North Carolina had won their games against Florida State and Virginia respectively. The ACC and SEC were once again featured on Saturday as Kentucky, NC State, Texas A&M, and Florida competed.

In Bracket 2, Kentucky emerged victorious over NC State with a thrilling extra-innings game that ended in a walk-off home run by Mitchell Daly in the bottom of the 10th inning. This was Kentucky’s first win at the College World Series in program history. The Wildcats and Wolfpack combined for four home runs during the game.

Kentucky started off strong by scoring a run in the first inning, but NC State tied things up in the third. The Wildcats regained the lead with a two-run home run in the fourth, but NC State tied it up again in the seventh. After exchanging leads several times throughout the game, Daly’s home run finally put an end to it and secured victory for Kentucky.

Kentucky advanced to play Texas A&M and Florida in the winner’s bracket, while NC State will have to participate in an elimination game against whichever team loses that matchup.
