Thrilling Shinty Matches Heat Up Over the Weekend: Kinlochshiel Overcomes Deficit to Beat Lovat 3-1

Morrison takes six wickets as Caberfeidh dominate Lochaber

Shinty action heated up over the weekend as several clubs played thrilling matches. Despite most of the matches being postponed due to players being away in Germany watching the Euros, some games still took place. In one such match, Kinlochshiel overcame an early goal deficit to defeat Lovat 3-1. Cammy MacMillan opened the scoring for Lovat before Kinlochshiel responded with goals from Keith, John, and Archie MacRae. Martin Mainland’s red card played a crucial role in Kinlochshiel’s comeback.

Another exciting match saw Newtonmore secure a 1-0 victory over Skye thanks to Iain Robinson’s goal. The win put Newtonmore in second place behind Kingussie in the Mowi Premiership, while Caberfeidh and Kinlochshiel surpassed Lovat in the league standings following their wins, positioning them in second and third place respectively.

In other shinty action, Fort William emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Bute in the National League, while Kilmallie narrowly defeated Inveraray 2-1 in the Balliemore Cup. Inverness dominated Kilmory 4-0, with goals from Steven Bellshaw, Charlie MacDonald, and Ewen Campbell.

The HIS Sutherland Cup saw Skye’s second team triumph 6-0 against Kilmallie, Newtonmore secure a 2-1 win at Glasgow Mid Argyll, and Fort William edge out Inveraray 5-4 in tightly contested matches. Overall it was an impressive display of shinty skill and athleticism on show across all matches.

Craig Morrison put on a stellar performance for Caberfeidh, scoring a double hat-trick in their 10-5 victory over Lochaber at Strathpeffer. This win brought Caberfeidh just one point behind league leaders Kingussie in the Mowi Premiership.

Despite a total of 15 goals being scored in the match between Caberfeidh and Lochaber only five players found the back of the net alongside Morrison’s impressive six goals Kevin Bartlett also secured a hat-trick for Caberfeidh while Ben Delaney netted four goals for Lochaber. Additional goals came from Gavin McLauchlan for Caberfeidh and Shaun Nicolson for Lochaber completing
