The Jamestown Post 14 Eagles secured their first win of the season with a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Dickinson Roughriders in the opening game of a doubleheader. Payton Hochhalter started the scoring with a single in the first inning, while Thomas Newman’s hit pushed the Eagles ahead 2-0. The Roughriders took a 3-2 lead in the fourth, but the Eagles tied it up in the fifth and eventually took the lead at 5-4 in the sixth.
Hochhalter and Newman contributed offensively, with Hochhalter going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Newman going 1-for-3 with one RBI. On the pitching front, Hochhalter went five innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Newman took over for the final two innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.
