The Yankees Strengthen Their Bullpen: Adding Veteran Tim Hill to the Roster

Tim Hill signed by Yankees as a left-handed reliever

The New York Yankees have made a move to bolster their bullpen by signing left-hander Tim Hill, who was recently let go by the Chicago White Sox. Hill, a 34-year-old veteran with seven pro seasons under his belt, brings experience and a track record of success to the table. In his career, he has a 4.30 ERA and a 1.380 WHIP in 347 regular season games. He has also been effective against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .241 average.

Despite his past success, Hill has struggled this season with a 5.87 ERA in 27 games with the White Sox. The Yankees hope that a change of scenery will help him regain his form and provide a boost to their already struggling bullpen. In a corresponding move, left-hander Clayton Andrews was designated for assignment to make room for Hill on the active roster.

The Yankees’ bullpen has been hit hard by injuries this season, with key relievers like Ian Hamilton and Nick Burdi on the 15-day IL, and Jonathan Loaisiga, Scott Effross, and Lou Trivino on the 60-day IL. Despite these setbacks, the team has managed to maintain a solid bullpen ERA of 3.41, which ranks sixth best in the majors. Adding Hill to the mix gives the Yankees another experienced arm to help anchor the bullpen as they continue to navigate through the challenges of the season.
