The summer holiday season is fast approaching, and airports around the world are preparing for a surge in passengers. However, many major hubs are already busy year-round due to their status as international gateways or popular layover locations.

According to research by OAG Aviation Worldwide, the airports with the highest number of scheduled seats for departure in April 2023 compared to the same month last year are leading the way. Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport holds the top spot with a staggering 5,207,792 seats scheduled to take off. This airport has held the title of the busiest hub in the world since 2021.

Dubai International Airport and Tokyo International Airport follow closely behind with 4,879,128 and 4,460,693 seats scheduled respectively. London Heathrow International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Istanbul Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Denver International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and Shanghai Pudong International Airport round out the top ten busiest airports in the world.
