A woman, 36, was brutally attacked with a knife in broad daylight on Artilleriestrasse. The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, May 2nd, and the motive for the crime is still unclear. The perpetrator, a 42-year-old man from Oldenburg in Lower Saxony, stabbed the woman before she managed to escape into a car. The driver of the car took her to the hospital where she received treatment for life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, her life is no longer in immediate danger according to a police spokesperson.
The police received multiple emergency calls at 12:38 p.m., and dispatched several officers to the scene. The man and the woman are believed to have had a personal relationship, and the attack was not random. Witnesses reported hearing screams and seeing the woman run in front of a car in an attempt to escape. The perpetrator allegedly tried to enter a witness’s car but drove away possibly saving her life. The police secured a VW Golf with an Oldenburg license plate in a nearby parking lot and are continuing to investigate the incident.
