The United States Hosts its First Major Cricket Tournament at the T20 World Cup in the West Indies

Rishabh Pant excited about World Cup in USA, says cricket is thriving globally and hopes for more exposure in America

For the first time in history, a major cricket tournament will be held in the United States as part of the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies. Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant expressed his excitement about the sport growing in America and how it opens up new possibilities for cricket and USA cricket.

The T20 World Cup is also seen as a significant step towards cricket’s return to the Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles. A total of 16 games will be played across three venues – New York, Dallas, and Lauderhill, with the majority of the 55 matches scheduled in the Caribbean, including the knock-out rounds.

Pant also commented on the drop-in pitches being used for the tournament, mentioning that he is adjusting to the conditions and getting used to the brighter sun in the USA. Ten drop-in pitches were prepared in Florida by Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions, led by renowned curator Damian Hough. Hough expressed his excitement about the pitches arriving in New York and credited the good weather in Florida and collaboration with partners like LandTek for successful preparation of pitches.
