On Tuesday evening, a funeral home’s car left the forest area south of Döbeln, bringing a body for an autopsy. The search for the missing Valeriia (9) had finally come to an end. Earlier that day, police search teams had found a lifeless person in the woods, but they were unable to recover the body immediately due to the crime scene team from the State Criminal Police Office having to arrive first.

The police spokesperson stated that they were checking whether the deceased individual was the missing nine-year-old girl from Döbeln. The body was found five hours after the search began, only approximately 2.5 kilometers from Valeriia’s parents’ home. Valeriia, who is originally from Ukraine, has been living in Germany with her mother since 2022. Her father serves as a soldier on the Ukrainian front.

The search for Valeriia began on Tuesday morning and was prompted by reports of cries for help in the dense forest. The search radius was expanded to include the area around “Knollensteine,” leading to the discovery of a lifeless body later that day. The police planned to announce the identity of the deceased person at a press conference scheduled for the following day.
