Dr. Huynh Van Minh Warns: High Blood Pressure Can Affect Anyone

Hypertension, a major risk factor for cardiovascular complications, is on the rise globally and affects people of all ages. The 6th National Hypertension Conference, held on June 14-15, highlighted the urgency of managing blood pressure effectively to prevent serious complications or fatalities. Professor Dr. Huynh Van Minh expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of hypertension among younger individuals, with many people under the age of 40 experiencing strokes or myocardial infarctions.

Cardiovascular diseases are a significant health concern in Vietnam, with high mortality rates from non-communicable diseases. Complications of hypertension can manifest in various organs, leading to conditions such as myocardial ischemia and stroke. Stroke incidence due to hypertension in Vietnam is particularly high compared to other regions in Asia, underscoring the importance of managing blood pressure effectively.

Hypertension is not only a standalone disease but also a precursor to other comorbid conditions such as metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity, and lipid disorders. The conference focused on the intersection of hypertension with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and emphasized the need for early detection and intervention for young individuals affected by hypertension.
