The Number 84: Arizona Cardinals Tight End Elijah Higgins Makes His Mark on the Field

The Cardinals are counting down 84 days until their season opener against the Bills

As the regular season of Sunday football approaches, the Arizona Cardinals are getting ready to kick off their season against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. In just 12 weeks or 84 days, the Cardinals will have their first game of the season. The current number 84 on the Cardinals roster is tight end Elijah Higgins, who was drafted in the sixth round by the Miami Dolphins last year but was claimed off waivers by Arizona after failing to make the Dolphins’ roster.

Despite being inactive for many weeks, Higgins played in 11 games, starting two, and caught 14 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. His performance down the stretch has fans excited about his potential as a breakout tight end, especially since he showed promise as an impact player. The last impactful No. 84 for the Cardinals was tight end Jermaine Gresham, who played for Arizona from 2015-2019. Though he didn’t meet the expectations of his first-round status, Gresham did catch more than 30 passes in 2016 and 2017, which was considered impressive for a Cardinals tight end.
