The Northport High School Powdered Wigs Musical Theater team had a memorable night at the Hunting-Tony Awards, which took place at the Paramount in Huntington on June 3. The team won several awards, including Best Costumes in a Play for “Shakespeare’s Dead Dudes” and “Shakespeare’s Dead Dames,” as well as Best Ensemble in a Musical for “The Prom: School Edition.” Makayla Connolly was also awarded Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her outstanding performance.

Apart from these wins, the team had several other nominees in various categories. Nate Clancy was nominated for Supporting Actor in a Play, Sarah Pierce was recognized for Supporting Actress in a Play, Francis Dentrone was up for Male Vocalist and Lead Actor in a Musical, Makayla Connolly was nominated for Female Vocalist, Jacob Karp was recognized for Supporting Actor in a Musical, and Cara Scamardella was nominated for Featured Actress in a Musical. The team was also nominated for Best Scenery in a Musical, Best Orchestra Pit, Best Technical Production for a Musical, Best Technical Production for a Play, and Best Musical.

Overall, the night was an excellent celebration of the hard work and talent of the Northport High School Powdered Wigs Musical Theater team. Their success at the Hunting-Tony Awards served as proof of their dedication and skill to their craft.
