After the conclusion of the New York leg of the T20 World Cup, the Nassau County stadium, which hosted the India vs Pakistan match on June 9, is set to be demolished. Built in under 100 days, the stadium has faced criticism for its drop-in pitches, known for their unpredictability.

According to a New York Times report, after the last match on June 12, the stadium will be dismantled, and the parts will be shipped back to Las Vegas. The stadium had a capacity of 34,000 and saw a packed crowd during India’s game against Pakistan, with tickets being sold at high prices.

The ICC issued a statement acknowledging the inconsistency in the pitches. The highest successful chase at the venue was 111 runs by India. Canada’s 137/7 against Ireland was the highest total recorded while South Africa had a close chase against Netherlands later defended 113 runs against Bangladesh. The field was made from special grass grown in Florida with borrowed materials used for grandstands.

Despite its impending demolition, overall, the Nassau County stadium provided an exciting and challenging setting for the T20 World Cup matches.
