The Legacy of a Family-Owned Business: Jim and Andy Jacobs Share Their Journey as the 2024 Family-Owned Business of the Year

Jacobs Financial Awarded Family-Owned Business of the Year

Jim and Andy Jacobs, who took over ownership of the St. Cloud-based financial services company, have been recognized as the 2024 Family-Owned Business of the Year by the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce. The business was founded in 1979 by their father, Dave, who passed away in 2015.

Jim took over ownership of the business in 1992 when he moved to St. Cloud from a different city with his partner, Dan Willmore. In 2002, Dave’s son Andy joined the firm after graduating from St. Cloud State University and taking over his father’s position as CEO and president. Together with their team of seven advisors and seven support staff, they are looking to expand into new markets this year and potentially add more advisors to their roster.

Andy believes that being a family-owned business changes your mindset and emphasizes the importance of trust when working with clients. He said, “We strive to do what’s right not only for our clients but for the community as well.” Their success has been made possible through their relationship with the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, which has helped them connect with people, build relationships, and find clients and business owners in the community.

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 1st at 11:30 am at the Park Events Center in downtown St. Cloud. This year’s recipients include Jeremy and Emily Salzbrun of H&S Heating, A/C, Electrical and Plumbing as Small Business Owners of the Year; Jill Magelssen of Express Employment Professionals as Women in Business Champion; and Jim, Andy, and Dave Jacobs of Jacobs Financial as Family-Owned Business of the Year. Tickets for this event are available on the Chamber’s website for more information about tickets and all award recipients.

The recognition is a testament to hard work and dedication put forth by these businesses towards growth while also making an impact on their community.
