The Jets Minicamp: Will Haason Reddick Attend or Will Jakeem Grant Prove to be a Valuable Asset?

Jets will tryout Jakeem Grant this week

The Jets minicamp this week is still uncertain whether Haason Reddick, the edge rusher, will attend. However, it’s expected that veteran kick returner Jakeem Grant will be there. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Grant will be participating in the minicamp on a tryout basis.

Jakeem Grant has had a difficult past two seasons with injuries keeping him off the field. In August 2022, he tore his Achilles in Browns camp and later tore his patellar tendon during Cleveland’s final preseason game last year. Prior to his struggles with the Browns, Grant split the 2021 season between the Dolphins and Bears. Despite his past injuries, throughout his career which spans five full seasons in Miami, Grant has returned four punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns.

With the NFL’s new kickoff rules expected to lead to more returns, Jakeem Grant could prove to be a valuable asset for a special teams unit. The Jets have also added former Bear Tarik Cohen to their roster this offseason and Xavier Gipson who returned a punt for a touchdown in overtime during Week One last year remains on the team.
