World War II veterans depart for France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day

A group of over 60 World War II veterans embarked on a journey from Dallas to France on Friday for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The group, consisting of individuals ranging in age from 96 to 107 years old, is being flown by American Airlines to Paris for the event. This trip is part of a series organized to bring veterans to France and pay tribute to those who fought during D-Day.

Among the group traveling from Dallas are six Medal of Honor recipients who served in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam. These veterans are eager to honor the World War II veterans who fought bravely during D-Day. Additionally, two Rosie the Riveters are also part of the group, representing the women who played vital roles in factories and shipyards during the war.

The veterans are excited about this opportunity to come together and remember the events of D-Day while reflecting on their own service and sacrifices. This experience will allow them to pay tribute to those who came before them while ensuring that the sacrifices made by those who fought in the war will never be forgotten. The trip is a special opportunity for these brave men and women to come together and honor their fellow servicemen and women who fought during World War II.
