Logitech has unveiled Ocular View, a telepresence-based video calling system that aims to enhance face-to-face meetings with an extended reality experience. The booth is designed by Logitech in collaboration with furniture brand Steelcase and creates the illusion of projecting the person you are meeting with into the space without the use of holograms.
Unlike Google’s holographic technology in the Starline project, Logitech uses angled glass to project the image of the other person and creates the effect of eye contact with a camera behind the glass. This creates a one-to-one extended reality experience that blurs the lines between the physical and digital worlds for a more human and immersive connection. Ocular View is available for order in North America and select European countries.
In addition to Ocular View, there is also content on Logitech’s website that includes descriptions of experiences in various destinations, tips for online gambling, and discussions on technology and entertainment options. The website appears to be a mix of news, entertainment, and promotional material for different brands and products.
