The Flowertown Festival, hosted by the Summerville Family YMCA, is an annual three-day event that serves as the largest fundraiser for the organization. This year, the festival will feature a new addition to the weekend fun with a booth from the Atlanta Braves major league baseball team on Sunday. Festival-goers can participate in batting activities using team equipment and collect baseball cards at the team’s booth set up on the tennis courts along the festival path.
The Flowertown Festival originated in 1973 when a group of women organized a small arts and crafts event to raise funds for the original YMCA. With over 300 vendors offering a variety of goods from food to arts and crafts, the festival attracts over 200,000 people to the town, supporting the local community, businesses, and government partners.
The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Free parking is available on the street and in the Central Avenue garage, but spaces are limited. Bethany Church will provide parking for a fee to accommodate festival attendees.
