The North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office has reported a surge in new businesses in the state, with nearly 15,000 new businesses added so far this year. One of these new businesses is The Flavor Hills, a restaurant with locations in Raleigh and Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Chef Morgan Teianne and her three partners opened the Raleigh location of The Flavor Hills, which is among the nearly 40 Black-owned businesses in downtown Raleigh. Teianne expressed her appreciation for the support and excitement from the community upon opening the new location. She is inspired by her father and late grandmother to offer and perfect Southern cuisine, and she left her hometown in Washington, D.C., to bring her culinary talents to North Carolina.
Teianne caters to a diverse demographic in North Carolina, and she is excited for the positive reception her food has received. She believes that other Black-owned businesses should consider setting up in downtown Raleigh to expand the vibrant community of entrepreneurs. The success of the Jacksonville and Raleigh locations has prompted Teianne and her team to consider opening another location in Charlotte later this year.
The addition of new businesses like The Flavor Hills contributes to the growing number of new business filings in Mecklenburg County, with around 3,000 new businesses established so far this year.
