The Fall of Liverpool’s Gaming Empire: A Look at the Auction for leveltap’s Assets

Liverpool gaming business liquidates, putting arcade machines up for auction

Liverpool’s first dedicated gaming venue, leveltap, which opened in April 2023 with high hopes of establishing the city as a major hub for eSports, has gone under. Now, an online auction is set to take place for its assets, including arcade machines and gaming PCs.

Paul Cooper, an auctioneer from Eddisons, has described the level of interest in the items as “off-the-chart,” with early bidding already surpassing expectations. The auction will feature 67 lots of gaming equipment, including 13 AlphaSync gaming PCs and four Roll Model Pandora Box arcade machines loaded with various games.

The arcade machines up for auction include classics from the 80s like Pac-Man and Space Invaders, as well as Mortal Kombat-branded machines offering fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter. Other machines feature titles such as R-Type, Marvel Super Heroes, Shock Troopers, and Metal Slug.

Begbies Traynor has overseen the wind-up of leveltap’s business and instructed the auctioneers to sell the remaining gaming equipment. The auction will be held online and will feature gear stored at Eddisons Auction Centre in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. Bidding closes at 13:00 BST on Wednesday.
