French people have not restricted themselves despite the increase in prices of Easter chocolate.

Despite the rising prices, the French remain committed to their annual tradition of searching for eggs during Easter. According to NielsenIQ France, chocolate consumption for the holiday increased by 0.5% this year, despite a 6.5% increase in price per kilo. The global price of cocoa rose by 162% between Easter 2023 and Easter 2024 due to factors such as global warming and the impact of El Niño on Africa.

Lindt announced a 5% price increase for 2024, following a 10% increase last year. Despite the rise in cost, sales of chocolates for adults remained strong, with a slight increase of only 3%, while those for children went up by a significant 7%. This year’s top-selling chocolates were Ferrero Rocher with almost 420 tonnes sold, Lindt rabbits with around 272 tonnes sold, and Kinder Schokobons with approximately 229 tonnes sold.
