The End of ‘The Talk’ as Soap Opera Saga Continues: CBS Cancels Daytime Chat Show for New Black Family Drama

Stars from the show ‘As the World Turns’ break up

CBS has decided to cancel ‘The Talk’ after 15 successful seasons. The daytime chatfest will be replaced by a new soap opera titled “The Gates.” This cancellation comes as a surprise to fans who have enjoyed the show over the years.

In other news, ‘As The World Turns’ co-stars Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain have announced their divorce after 10 years of marriage. They cited that their goals have been leading them in different directions and that they remain friends despite the split. Both McClain and Lindstrom have busy schedules lined up following their divorce. McClain is sharing updates on her social media channels about her recent travels and projects while Lindstrom is promoting his debut fiction thriller. They have both had successful careers in the soap opera world and beyond.

CBS ended ‘As The World Turns’ in 2010 and replaced it with ‘The Talk.’ Now, 14 years later, ‘The Talk’ is ending and CBS is developing “The Gates,” a new soap opera with a predominantly Black cast. The show will follow the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community. If picked up, it will likely take the time slot previously held by ‘The Talk.’
