The End of an Era: Experienced Harlequins Players Retire from the Club, Marking a Challenging Season for the Team.

Harlequins pair Mew and Gray announce retirement

Two experienced Harlequins players, Katie Mew and Georgia Gray, have announced their retirement from the club. Mew, who is 28 years old and has been with Harlequins for the past six seasons, was a key player in the team’s 2021 Premier 15s title-winning squad. She started her career at Havant before progressing to the first team and helped secure a 25-17 win over Saracens in the final.

Gray, who is also 29 years old and played a crucial role in the same title-winning squad, returned to Harlequins in 2020 after a short stint at Richmond. Both players are highly skilled and respected members of the club, and their retirement marks the end of an era for Harlequins.

Their announcements come after other experienced Harlequins players including Shaunagh Brown, Emily Scott, and Rachael Burford also retired from the club. Despite facing a challenging season where Harlequins currently lie sixth in the Premiership Women’s Rugby standings, they will be looking to finish on a high note in their final league game against Trailfinders on Sunday, 2 June.
