The Debate Continues: Should There Be More Than Two NFL Games on Christmas Day?

NFL Plans to Host Two Christmas Games in 2025

The NFL recently announced that there will be only two games played on Christmas next year, after initially stating that there would be no games at all. This news has sparked debate among fans as to whether there should be more than two games on the holiday.

During a conference call discussing the 2024 schedule, it was revealed that Christmas 2025, falling on a Thursday, will feature a Netflix game in the afternoon and an Amazon game in the evening. However, despite this initial plan, some fans are not ruling out the possibility of having three games on Christmas day.

The NFL already plays three games on Thanksgiving, so why not do the same for Christmas? The league has stated that short-week football is not a concern, as the injury rate remains the same with either six days or three days between games. With this in mind, it begs the question of why the NFL would not take advantage of having Christmas fall on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday to host games throughout the day.

Fans are eager to see their favorite teams play on Christmas and are hoping that the league will consider adding another game to the schedule. Only time will tell if this will happen, but one thing is certain – football fans will be excited to see their beloved teams play on Christmas Day.
