T20 World Cup 2024: IND vs CAN match in Florida called off due to wet outfield

The Group A match of the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup between India and Canada was called off without a ball being bowled due to a wet outfield at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground. This was the third consecutive match in the tournament at Lauderhill to be abandoned, following similar fates for the Sri Lanka-Nepal and Ireland-USA clashes.

Upon the teams’ arrival at the venue, the outfield was still wet with soggy spots around the 30-yard circle. Covers remained on the square under gloomy skies, as early morning rain and scattered thunderstorms were predicted for the entire day, causing a delay in the scheduled coin toss. Super soppers and massive hairdryers were deployed to dry the damp areas, but at 9:03 pm IST, umpires Richard Kettleborough and Sharfuddoula decided to abandon the match.
