As the Russian national holiday, Victory Day, approached, a secret assassination plot was set in motion. A drone control center was established in a basement in the Kyiv region with the express purpose of eliminating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his military intelligence commander. The plan involved using drones and rockets to target Colonel-General Kirill Budanov, who had led attacks against senior Russian commanders and collaborators within Russia and occupied Ukrainian territory.
According to an anonymous Ukrainian official, Putin’s intelligence agents had infiltrated Zelensky’s security echelons with the intention of assassinating the Kiev leadership. The plan included launching ballistic missiles and coordinated drone attacks to cover up the attempt. Despite efforts by Ukrainian military intelligence services, two colonels suspected of working for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) were arrested before they could carry out their mission.
The prime suspect in this case is Colonel Andrej Huk, who allegedly recruited another man, Colonel Oleksandr Derka, to execute the attack on Zelensky. Both men were apprehended after a swift operation by Ukrainian security forces and later confessed to their involvement in the plot. They revealed new information about a previous Russian attempt to kidnap Zelensky at the start of the war. In addition to this assassination plot, there were other attempts made against Zelensky’s life but successfully thwarted by FSB’s most successful venture -infiltrating his protection unit.
The source described how these arrests were made: one colonel was taken into custody at his apartment in Kiev while the other was captured in Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine. They were lured out of their locations by a disguised emergency intervention unit posing as police officers. Upon interrogation, they admitted their involvement in the assassination attempt and also revealed other plots against Zelensky and other officials from Ukraine government.
