The Bears Sign Versatile Wide Receiver and Special Teams Ace DeAndre Carter for 2021 Season

The Chicago Bears have officially signed wide receiver and special teams ace DeAndre Carter to a one-year deal, as announced by the team on Tuesday. Carter, who is 30 years old, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. After a brief stint with the Bears in 2020, appearing in four games, he is now returning to the team.

Throughout his career, Carter has also played for the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Washington Football Team, Los Angeles Chargers, and most recently the Las Vegas Raiders. He brings experience and versatility to the Bears’ roster as a receiver and punt returner.

Carter will be competing for one of the final receiver roster spots with the Bears. With his experience as a kick and punt returner, he can be a valuable weapon for Chicago. The battle for receiver roster spots will be one to watch during training camp. Special teams performance will play a key role in determining who makes the final cut.

In addition to Carter, players like Velus Jones Jr., Dante Pettis, and Nsimba Webster also have return experience. They will also be competing for spots on the roster.

The competition and depth at the receiver position will make for an exciting training camp for the Bears. The new kickoff rules could make Carter’s special teams contributions even more valuable.
