The Battle for Victory at the US Women’s Open: A Tight Leaderboard and Stunning Upsets

Minjee Lee joins a three-way tie for the lead at the US Women’s Open

In 2022, Minjee Lee emerged victorious at the US Women’s Open, claiming her second major title with a stunning four-under-par round of 66. This impressive performance put her in a three-way tie for the lead with American Andrea Lee and Thailand’s Wichanee Meechai after the third round of the tournament held at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Lee, a 28-year-old Australian golfer and former champion, started the day three shots behind Meechai but quickly closed the gap with a solid round. Andrea Lee also made her presence felt with five birdies and two bogeys in her 67, positioning herself for a potential first major title win on Sunday.

Despite their strong performances, Japan’s Hinako Shibuno and Yuka Saso are just a few shots behind, staying in contention as they head into the final round of the tournament. The leaderboard is tight, with only five players under par after a challenging few days of play.

Notably absent from the leaderboard is world number one Nelly Korda, who failed to make the cut after carding a 10-over-par 80 in the first round. Korda’s disappointing performance in the tournament was unexpected, leaving the door open for other players to seize the opportunity to claim the US Women’s Open title.
