The Azalea Sprinter: Boosting Economic Growth and Memories in South Georgia

Nashville’s Economy Receives Boost from New Train Development

The Azalea Sprinter Excursion train has been a significant contributor to the economic development of Valdosta, Tifton, Nashville, Douglas, Willacoochee, and surrounding areas. In 2023, the sprinter brought over 4,000 visitors to Nashville’s farmers market, which helped boost the city’s growth and expansion. According to Christopher Parott, co-CEO of CaterParott Railnet, beyond economic gains, the train offers visitors a unique experience that creates lasting memories.

The success of the train has led to plans for the development of a train depot in Nashville. Construction is set to begin in mid-April and is expected to be completed within the next three months. The depot aims to make the Azalea Sprinter more accessible to visitors and residents alike and increase its popularity as another attraction in Nashville.

Nashville city manager Hayden Hancock highlighted future plans for the area that include a revitalized downtown, a new farmers market, green space and walkways that will enhance visitor experience. The completion of the train depot is seen as a key component in these plans and is expected to further boost economic growth and tourism in the city.
