Thaco’s Science and Technology Initiatives Drive Economic Growth in Vietnam’s Automobile Sector

Improving Efficiency in Science and Technology Projects at Thaco

Thaco, a Vietnamese industrial corporation, is projected to have over 3,500 scientific innovations implemented by 2023. These initiatives are expected to result in savings of over 70 billion VND and generate significant economic value, particularly in the automobile sector. Over the years, Thaco has prioritized science and technology projects, recruiting and training a workforce of production engineers and R&D engineers. By 2024, the enterprise will have grown its engineering team from 266 members in 2011 to over 9,300 engineers.

One of Thaco’s notable projects is the design and production of high-class sleeper buses with a Vietnamese brand. The company’s bus lines boast a 60% localization rate and capture a 65% market share domestically, with exports to countries like the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. In the truck segment, Thaco maintains a 35-40% localization rate and 45% market share domestically, while the passenger car segment commands a 25% market share with a 35-40% localization rate.
