Texas Rangers Make Roster Moves as Eovaldi Returns from Injury, Langford Activated for Game against Arizona Diamondbacks

Rangers bring back Nathan Eovaldi to start World Series rematch rather than rehabbing in a minor league game

The Texas Rangers made several roster moves, including activating Nathan Eovaldi and Wyatt Langford from the injured list. Eovaldi, an All-Star last season, had been out of action since May 2 due to a right groin strain. He was activated to start against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Langford, a rookie outfielder, had been sidelined since May 4 with a right hamstring strain and was also activated for the game.

However, the team placed Evan Carter on the injured list with a lumbar sprain. Yerry Rodríguez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock to make room for the returning players. Initially, manager Bruce Bochy had planned for Eovaldi to pitch in a rehab game before rejoining the rotation, but the decision was made to have him pitch in the major leagues immediately.

Dane Dunning, another right-hander on the team, will start Wednesday’s game after returning from a stint on the injured list. Langford, the fourth overall pick in last year’s draft, has shown promise in his first season but will need to continue to make progress. Carter, who has struggled at the plate in recent games, will look to recover from his injury and return to form.
