Texas Rangers Activate Pitcher Max Scherzer, Set to Make Injury-Plagued Starting Rotation Whole Again Against Kansas City Royals

The Texas Rangers have activated pitcher Max Scherzer from the injured list and he is set to start Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. Manager Bruce Bochy expressed confidence in Scherzer’s return, emphasizing that Scherzer is feeling good and ready to pitch.

Scherzer, who is approaching his 40th birthday, has not pitched yet this season as he recovered from offseason surgery for a herniated disc. His last appearance for the Rangers was in Game 3 of the World Series last season, where he had to leave the game due to back tightness. In order to make room for Scherzer on the 26-man roster, right-hander Yerry Rodriguez was sent down to Triple-A Round Rock.

After experiencing a setback during a rehab assignment in April, Scherzer was diagnosed with a nerve issue that affected his right forearm and triceps. He has since made two more rehab starts in June, performing well in his final appearance with eight strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Bochy stated that there will be no pitch count for Scherzer on Sunday, and they will monitor his performance inning by inning.

Scherzer’s return comes at a crucial time for the Rangers, as their starting rotation has been plagued by injuries this season. With pitchers like Eovaldi, Dunning, and Bradford dealing with various health issues, the addition of Scherzer will provide much-needed stability to the team. Overall, the Rangers are optimistic about Scherzer’s return and his ability to make a positive impact on the team going forward.
