Ex-Texas Defensive Tackle T’Vondre Sweat arrested and charged with DWI in Austin

Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Austin, Texas. The 22-year-old Sweat was arrested on Sunday afternoon and booked at 2:12 p.m. CT, according to jail records for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. Further details about his arrest have not been disclosed.

According to reports from Burnt Orange Nation, Sweat was seen at McCombs Field in Austin on Saturday, where he watched Texas beat Oklahoma 2-1 in softball. A bond of $3,000 was set for Sweat, which seems to have been paid via “personal bond” prior to 3:45 p.m. CT. It is unclear when his next court appearance will be.

Sweat has had an impressive football career, earning the 2023 Outland Trophy as the most outstanding interior lineman in the nation. He was also named the Big 12 Conference defensive player of the year, contributing to Texas’ Big 12 Championship win and their advancement to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff. Projected as a second or third-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, Sweat is considered the top nose tackle available. The draft will take place in Detroit on April 25-27.
