Texas Congressman Colin Allred Fights for Women’s Reproductive Rights in the Wake of Roe v. Wade Overturning

Colin Allred reaffirms his commitment to women’s health on the anniversary of the Dobbs decision.

Congressman Colin Allred recently held an event in support of women’s access to reproductive care outside of the Austin Women’s Health Center on the second anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health. During the event, Allred reiterated his commitment to restoring women’s reproductive healthcare in Texas, especially after the state implemented a near-total abortion ban following the ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.

Joining Allred at the event were former State Senator Wendy Davis, former plaintiff in Zurawski v. Texas, Taylor Edwards and Candidate for State Senate, Kristian Carranza. They discussed the implications of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health ruling and highlighted the importance of protecting women’s access to reproductive care in Texas.

Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Texas passed a law that banned abortion unless it was deemed necessary to save a woman’s life or protect her health. Events like this one hosted by Congressman Allred aim to address these restrictive laws and advocate for women’s reproductive rights.
