Texans Sign Rising Star Offensive Lineman Blake Fisher: Depth and Competition for the Offensive Line Room”.

Blake Fisher, second-round draft pick, signs with Texans

The Houston Texans have signed their entire draft class, with the latest addition being second-round pick Blake Fisher. Fisher agreed to a four-year deal worth approximately $6.6 million, including a $1.616 million signing bonus. As the final rookie drafted by the Texans to sign, Fisher is expected to provide depth and serve as insurance behind Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil and former first-round pick Tytus Howard.

Being selected 59th overall, Fisher is known for his experience playing for Notre Dame and his strong run-blocking skills. He became the first true freshman to start at left tackle for the Irish in 2021 before transitioning to the right side of the line. Despite missing games in 2021 due to a knee injury, Fisher’s high football IQ has made him a valuable asset on the field and a key player in the team’s future plans beyond 2024.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans praised Fisher’s abilities and potential impact on the team, particularly in adding depth and competition to the offensive line room. Fisher expressed his desire to earn the respect and trust of his teammates while learning from established players like Tunsil and Howard. He believes that his intelligence and ability to read the game contribute significantly to his effectiveness on the field, benefiting not only himself but also those around him.

The Texans will kick off mandatory team minicamp in the coming weeks, with Fisher expected to continue developing and making an impact as a member of the team.
