Elon Musk discloses the value of Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus

Elon Musk recently shared the tentative price of Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot, which he plans to sell at half the cost of a car in the future. During a conversation with Sam Korus, who studies autonomous technology and robotics at ARK Invest, Musk discussed the complexity per unit of mass in humanoid robots and how it will still cost less than half of a car, with an estimated value of around $20,000.

Musk also stated his intention to turn Optimus into a mass consumer robot and highlighted Tesla’s ability to produce large quantities of the humanoid robot due to their experience in manufacturing electric cars. Recently, Tesla unveiled the second version of Optimus, Optimus Gen 2, with enhanced movement capabilities in the neck and hands as well as sensors in the fingers for handling delicate objects with varying pressures.
