The granddaughter of Renee Sanchez, the incident occurred when Sanchez was taking her 20-month-old granddaughter to the Phoenix Zoo. When the EV’s battery died, Sanchez was unable to open the door and rescue her granddaughter. In desperation, she called 911 for help.

Scottsdale firefighters arrived on the scene and were faced with a challenge – accessing a locked Tesla. Despite this, they were able to break the car’s window and rescue the child safely. However, Tesla and Scottsdale Fire Department representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Safety features such as release levers on doors can be used by Tesla owners to manually unlock their doors in case of an emergency. But not all Tesla owners are familiar with these safety features. It is essential to educate oneself about these features before driving a Tesla to avoid being trapped inside during an emergency situation like this one.

In another incident that took place in April, a TikToker claimed to have been stuck inside her Tesla for 40 minutes while it updated its software. The temperature inside the car rose dangerously high at 115°F while the update was in progress, which could have been catastrophic had it not been interrupted by someone who spotted the situation and intervened.

Overall, while Teslas are known for their advanced technology and sleek design, it is crucial that drivers are aware of potential safety hazards and take necessary precautions before getting behind the wheel of their vehicle.
