Tesla Faces Yet Another Setback with Cybertruck Recall: Problems with Windscreen Wiper and Trunk-Bed Trim Affect over 11,000 Vehicles.

Wiper Issue Prompts Tesla to Recall 11,000 Cybertrucks

Tesla’s Cybertruck is facing yet another setback as the automaker recalls over 11,000 vehicles due to problems with both the giant windscreen wiper and trunk-bed trim. The recall affects model year 2024 Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023, to June 6, 2024, which accounts for an estimated 2% of recalled vehicles.

Tesla is replacing wiper motors on all affected vehicles to prevent potential damage and malfunction caused by “electrical overstress.” This comes after reports in June indicated that Tesla had delayed Cybertruck deliveries due to problems with the wiper system. Some owners reported issues with the giant single windshield wiper on Tesla forums.

In addition to the wiper issue, Tesla is also recalling 11,383 Cybertrucks over concerns that a trim in the trunk bed may have been improperly attached. This adds to the challenges Tesla has faced in producing the Cybertruck, following a previous recall of nearly 3,878 vehicles due to an accelerator flaw.

Despite these recalls, Tesla has not reported any accidents, injuries or deaths related to these faults. Elon Musk’s unique single-wiper design attracted attention during the vehicle’s release. Musk acknowledged that finding a suitable solution for clearing massive front windows was one of many challenges in designing this futuristic pickup truck.

These recent recalls add yet another challenge for Tesla in producing this highly anticipated electric vehicle. If you are a Cybertruck owner or have information to share regarding this recall or any other issues with your vehicle, contact our reporter at tcarter@businessinsider.com
