Tension Builds as Tennessee and Florida State Set to Face Off in College World Series Opener

College World Series Broadcast Schedule

The highly anticipated matchup between Tennessee baseball and Florida State is set to take place on Friday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The No. 1 national seed Vols will face the No. 8 seed Seminoles in this College World Series opener, which will air on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.

Tennessee baseball has historically struggled in College World Series opening games under coach Tony Vitello, currently holding a 0-2 record. However, the Vols have been making strides in recent years, earning their third trip to the CWS in the past four seasons under Vitello’s leadership. Despite this, they have yet to win a game in the tournament, going 1-4 overall.

Florida State earned the No. 8 national seed after a successful regular season and a run to the ACC tournament title game. The Seminoles are heading into the matchup undefeated in the NCAA tournament, coming off of a dominant performance against UConn in the Tallahassee Super Regional. They will be looking to continue their winning streak and make history by defeating Tennessee and claiming their first ever College World Series title.
