Tennessee Women’s Basketball Bids Farewell to Head Coach Pat Harper: A New Chapter Begins for the Iconic Lady Vols Program

Tennessee Athletics Reveals New Leadership for Women’s Basketball

On Monday, Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White announced a leadership change in Tennessee women’s basketball. Harper, who has been head coach for five seasons, will not return next season. White stated that it was a difficult decision considering Harper’s accomplishments as a three-time national champion student-athlete for the Lady Vols.

Harper led the team to a successful record during her time as head coach and is grateful for the opportunity to coach at her alma mater and lead the Lady Vols program. With a career record of 393-260 and numerous postseason appearances as a head coach, Harper’s coaching tenure at UT included notable achievements such as back-to-back NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and a 2023 SEC Tournament Championship game.

White emphasized the importance of finding the right candidate to lead the iconic women’s basketball program and stated that updates on the search process will be provided once a decision has been made. A nationwide search for a new head coach will commence immediately.
